First Friday

What is First Friday and why is it important to Downtown Yakima?

First Friday is a monthly event that showcases local performers, artists, and small businesses! Downtown Yakima retailers, restaurants and organizations will feature local artist and performers and have promotions for their customers. One of our goals at Downtown Yakima is making downtown a thriving place to live, work, and play. First Friday is an opportunity to highlight the abundance of businesses, organizations, and other downtown spaces that expand culture, dining, and shopping in Yakima.

If you are a Downtown Yakima business, there are several ways in which you can participate in First Friday. You can host evening hours on First Friday, have live music playing in or right outside your business, have a local artist host an art opening during First Friday or offer a dinner special or featured menu item if you are a restaurant. You can also offer First Friday specials.

If you are interested in participating in First Friday, we encourage you to sign up as early as possible. You can choose to have the same promotion for all 12 months if you would like. Please note that applications are due 2 weeks prior to each event date
