Bart Budwig/Jen Borst with Seth Kinzie on piano and Opening Act: Tim Switzer

07:30 PM

The Seasons Performance Hall

Bart Budwig is one of the most underrated musicians in Oregon.” - Oregon Public Broadcasting

"It’s this ability to combine tragedy and comedy in his humanist hallelujahs that makes Budwig a gravitational force and industry chimera. The studio general, the clown prince, the sensitive songwriter with a rugged voice. The soul singer with a cosmic country band. The creator of a folk universe drawing musicians from everywhere to the middle of nowhere." - American Standard Time

Tim Switzer, whose last appearance at The Seasons was in our Songwriter Series in 2019 shortly after leaving the Yakima rock band, Gloom. A multi-faceted songwriter and talented singer, Tim had the misfortune of playing the largest part of his set lit only by twinkle lights. But he carried it off with the aplomb of a seasoned stage veteran. We welcome him back to The Seasons!

Jen Borst is a Yakima-based singer-songwriter, painter and photographer whose work in all three arenas has made her one of Central Washington's most in-demand artists. As a musician, she was a member of two major Yakima bands, Not Amy and Planes on Paper. The latter transcended Yakima in a way very few local bands do, earning reviews in major regional publications including The Seattle Times. Her song “Wolves” was premiered on KEXP and playing the Northwest's premiere folk and Americana venues as well as iconic east coast stages including The Kennedy Center in DC, Club Passim in Boston and the Mercury lounge in New York City . As a member of those bands, Borst has toured on both coasts and shared stages and bills with luminaries such as Josiah Johnson from The Head and The Heart, Courtney Marie Andrews and Christopher Paul Stelling among countless others, and has also played with the Yakima Symphony orchestra. "Hermit Song", makes decades long isolation in the woods of Maine --seem like an idyllic commune with nature. Conversely her song "Wolves", exposes the troubles just below the surface of what seems ideal. She will be singing harmonies with Bart Budwig for this show.
