Welcome Bill Anschell and his lauded "Standards" Trio back to The Seasons. Spontaneity is a big part of what makes jazz unique, and the Bill Anschell Standards Trio is all about spontaneity. No setlist, no arrangements, no rehearsal; just a shared mission of finding new directions for well-loved standards. When Anschell picks a song (the repertoire isn’t pre-planned, just drawn on the spot from a large shared list), he tries to play it as he’s never played it before; bassist Chris Symer and drummer D’Vonne Lewis start from silence and find their way in. From there, the trio can go anywhere—and that’s exactly what they always do.
This is improvisation, listening, responding, conversing through music at the very highest level by three of the most respected jazz musicians in Seattle.
