Holiday Events Downtown

The Community Christmas Tree now stands firmly at Millennium Plaza, thanks to the Downtown Association of Yakima (DAY) crew, City of Yakima staff, Russell Crane Service, Inc, and the generosity of the Russell family (not related to the crane company). On Tuesday, November 27th, DAY staff and a group of volunteers will decorate the Tree in preparation for the Holiday festivities planned for Downtown Yakima.

All the fun begins with the annual horse drawn wagon rides which commence on December 1st and will occur at Millennium Plaza for the next 3 consecutive Saturdays leading up to Christmas. The FREE rides are sponsored by DAY and are capably provided by Double J Ranch. The rides will occur from noon to 3 pm. On three of the four Saturdays, Selah Sweets will provide hot beverages for those looking for refreshments.

The 19th Annual Christmas Lights Parade will occur on Sunday, December 2nd, at 6 pm. A variety of glistening entries will proceed down Yakima Avenue, finishing up at the Community Christmas Tree. Immediately following the parade, the tree lighting ceremony will occur. Entry forms and rules for the Lights Parade can be picked up at Ron’s Coins and Collectibles and the DAY offices.

The Community tree is 30 feet high. It is a Douglas Fir.
