DAY Launches Downtown Yakima Together Fundraiser
Supports Downtown Businesses and Essential Workers
Downtown Yakima – At 4:15 today (Monday, April 27, 2020) the Downtown Association of Yakima (DAY) launched a fundraiser – Downtown Yakima Together – to support Downtown Yakima businesses and Essential Workers affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Community members can purchase Downtown Yakima Swag (t-shirts, hoodies, and hats) with all proceeds going towards the purchase of gift cards from Downtown Yakima businesses. These gift cards will, then, be distributed to Essential Businesses in the downtown core.
“As the Downtown Association, we wanted to do something that would put some money in the cash registers of downtown businesses while also showing our appreciation to those who are playing a vital role during this difficult time, “says Executive Director of DAY, Andrew Holt. “Since the crisis broke, DAY has been working hard on promoting open/essential businesses and providing our community with resources to critical financial assistance. But this fundraiser affords us the opportunity to boost morale, add some commerce, and involve the community.”
Purchases can be made with PayPal, cash, checks, or card. Orders can be placed by email (attaching order form is encouraged) at admin@downtownyakima.com, or by calling the DAY office at 509-571-1328. Merchandise can be picked up at the DAY office, 14 S. 1st Street. Office Hours: Mon – Fri, 9-5.
“The Yakima community has always been enormously supportive of Downtown Yakima – its businesses, its people, and its projects, “says Holt. “We truly appreciate it and hope that this fundraiser makes a difference to our resilient downtown community during this difficult crisis.” Holt adds, “We know that the economic effects from the COVID-19 crisis will not disappear overnight, so we have set no deadline, at this time, for this fundraiser. We hope it can provide a ray of sunshine for as long as it is needed.”
