The Downtown Association of Yakima (DAY) is spearheading the first-ever Downtown Yakima Small Business Saturday promotion on November 30th, 2019, from 10 – 5. The event is in conjunction with the 10th Annual Small Business Saturday, a national campaign coordinated by American Express to support small, independent business owners.
Downtown Yakima’s event will include 17 businesses in the downtown corridor – each having special promotions, sales, and/or activities in conjunction with the Small Business Saturday promotion. A map of the participating businesses will be available at each business, online at www.downtownyakima.com, and in a special Thanksgiving insert of the Yakima Herald Republic. Patrons can pick up a Downtown Yakima Small Business Saturday passport at the first participating business they visit; if they validate it at, at least, 5 participating businesses with a minimum of one proof of purchase receipt, they will be entered to win a $50 gift card from one of the participating businesses. Those who take advantage of Downtown Yakima Small Business Saturday deals will also receive a Downtown Yakima Shop Local reusable shopping bag.
Each participating business will have a Downtown Yakima Small Business Saturday poster on the front door or window, signifying it is a participating business along with being located on the map.
“We are thrilled to have 17 businesses participating in this first year,” says DAY Executive Director, Andrew Holt. “We have been working on more promotions that get folks directly into downtown businesses, and Small Business Saturday is a natural. We hope that this is just the
beginning to an event that annually brings people to Downtown Yakima for an enjoyable and meaningful event while also creating a greater sense of community in the downtown corridor.”
A Facebook Event has been created where updates and features will be posted leading up to the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/443202089551428/
