Downtown Yakima Celebrates the Holidays w/ Numerous Events

Yakima, WA – Downtown Yakima will be the center of Holiday activity, once again, in 2017. In addition to an abundance of Holiday festivities and specials offered by the district’s businesses, the Downtown will also be home to the Annual Holiday Lighted Parade, Community Tree Lighting, and the ever-popular Horse Drawn Carriage Rides.

The Lighted Parade will start at 6 pm on Sunday, December 3rd. The procession of glowing floats, farm equipment, and merry paraders will commence at 6th Avenue and traverse down Yakima Ave, ending on 3rd Street. The parade is put on by the Sunfair Parade Association with sponsorship from Ron’s Coins and Collectibles.

Immediately following the parade, the official lighting of the Community Christmas Tree will take place at Millennium Plaza, directly across from the Capitol Theatre. The brightly lit tree will remain twinkling throughout the Holiday Season with the rest of Millennium Plaza adorned in Holiday decorations – all supplied and maintained by the Downtown Association of Yakima (DAY) and the City of Yakima.

Beginning on Friday, December 1st and occurring for the first three Saturdays of December, folks will be able to travel through the downtown in a horse drawn carriage. The free rides are provided by DAY and are headed up by Double J. Ranch. Jim Duke will lead his team of horses on a weaving and magical path through downtown with rides leaving approximately every 40 minutes. The dates and times of the rides are listed below.

We invite you and your family and friends to join us in celebrating the joys of the Holiday Season in Downtown Yakima. For Parade entry forms, contact Ron’s Coins and Collectibles or DAY (509) 571-1328, director@downtownyakima.com.
