Micheal Nau @ Single Hill
February 13 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Michael Nau is bringing his brand of indie folk from the state of Maryland. His new album, “Less Ready To Go,” was recorded at hi-dez in Joshua Tree. It happened quickly. For each song, we’d do a live take, then switch instruments & do a live overdub on top. It was a fresh way to work. Going in, I was sure I had at least one song to do – we started there, and a couple days later it felt like a record was finished. Any time I try to contrast one record, or process, from the previous one, it becomes more clear that it’s all pretty much the same thing. Feels I’ve been ‘working on an album’ every day for the last 12 years, yet I always feel underprepared. I’m lucky to get to make music with people who’s energy can supersede my self doubt. That’s the thread through all this.
Niel Ferguson of Glide Magazine had some kind words about Michael Nau’s 2018 Pickathon performances.
-“Michael Nau celebrated the release of his new album on Friday night with a mellow set for the late night crowd. Playing mostly songs off Michael Nau & The Mighty Thread, Nau and his band soothed and grooved with songs that felt carefree and dreamy. The new material would go over even better on Sunday afternoon as the band dipped into Grateful Dead-esque guitar jams and laid back psych-folk that felt made for laying on a blanket on a sunny day.”
