It’s been a while since Yakima Symphony Conductor, Lawrence Golan, has graced The Seasons main stage. We are thrilled to have him back! And with the Symphony’s February solo artist, Steven Mayer on piano.
Yakima Symphony Orchestra Music Director Lawrence Golan brings out his violin to perform with pianist Steven Mayer on a duo recital that includes two of the most beautiful and exciting violin/piano sonatas in the repertoire: the Brahms Sonata No. 1 in G major and the Franck Sonata in A major.
In addition to his extensive conducting resume, Lawrence Golan has served as concertmaster of the Portland (ME) Symphony Orchestra and has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras including the Chicago Symphony. His most recent local performance was with the Yakima Symphony Chorus on November 2019s Heart Mountain program.
International recording artist Steven Mayer is known for his versatility, with a unique repertoire ranging from jazz icons Art Tatum and Fats Waller to music of Mozart, Liszt and Ives. He has performed as soloist with some of the worlds most prominent conductors and orchestras, and he will perform for the first time as soloist with the Yakima Symphony Orchestra on February 29th.
