“This is a fun, family friendly activity that anyone can participate in,” said Victor De Long, President of the Downtown Association of Yakima.

Several local artists have signed up to join in the fun who will each have a 10×12’ square of sidewalk to show case their talents. Joining the local artists this year are 35 Yakima Valley College students from Maria Cuevas class, ChicanX Art and Culture, who will be participating in the festival as part of a class assignment.

Featured artists include Steve Platt, of Nana Kate’s in Selah who has participated in many chalk art festivals around the area, including our event last year. Other artists include, Enrique Guzman, a graphic artist from the Field Group, Anjela Sevilla, and John Cooper from Yakima Valley Tourism.

Kids and adults alike will have the opportunity to partake in the free chalk festivities, drawing images around the event’s theme, ‘Dia de los Muertos’.

Also returning to the event are players from the Yakima Symphony who will be onsite to promote their upcoming concert series as well as to play music while the artists create their masterpieces.  Come on down and join in the free family fun.
