Yakima resident, Carl Lidke, will be on hand Saturday, June 15th to show off his sizeable collection of Bonsai trees.
Wikipedia describes Bonsai as: “an Asian art form using cultivation techniques to produce small trees in containers that mimic the shape and scale of full size trees.”
More than 20 Bonsai trees from the collection will be on display.
Carl has created and maintained these plants primarily in the Japanese style of this living art.
Some of these plants are “starter” trees and the oldest is 25 years old. This elder Bonsai is a Japanese Mugo Pine.
Carl will be on hand to answer questions about this craft and his collection. A number of the Bonsai trees may be available for purchase.
Retired Yakima resident, Carl Lidke, 68, has had quite a colorful and full life. He has 25 years in the military serving in Korea and Vietnam.
This prior to 25 years working as Circulation Manager at the Yakima Herald Republic.
And, Carl has been a chef for 15 years preparing food in Vancouver Washington and at regional hospital, Fieldstone Memory Care, in Yakima.
Carl learned to cook in Asia in addition to being self-taught in the U.S.

Come witness the amazing art of Bonsai and talk with the well traveled Carl while sampling award-winning wines. Mmmmm.
AntoLin Cellars is located on historic Front Street in downtown Yakima at the south end of the Northern Pacific Railroad Depot complex.

The name “AntoLin” is a collective of the first names of winery owners Linda and Tony Haralson. Their passion is winemaking and their dream is to share the fruits of that passion.
Taste their Riesling, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, Carmenère and Malbec. Wine Tasting Fees are $4 for a white flight and $6 for a red flight. There are 4 whites and 5 reds in each flight.
AntoLin Cellars owns AntoLin Estate Vineyard in the Yakima Valley AVA which is planted to Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Carmenère.
